Problem

This app has access to wide range of radio stations from all over the world. The unclear navigation, lack of options, and difficult decision-making experience make it complicated, and unfriendly. This app has access to wide range of radio stations from all over the world.

User-flows

•Task 01

“Search for TSF Jazz station, mark it as a favorite and find it on the homepage”

•Task 02

“Recieved in-app notification, play the station and leave a comment”

Usability Testing and Iteration

Before moving on to hi-fidelity design, I wanted to do a usability test to validate my initial ideas and get user feedback. I asked 5 participants to perform the tasks.

Issue:

Testers said the “options are not clear” to understand without a name.

Solution:

Added “names as a tag line” to each option.

Issue:

Testers think is “hard to understand” which option is the final and search-related result.

Solution:

Divided search result by “categories”.

Challenges and What I learned

When I first decided to do this project, As a user experience improvement project, I was assuming new features and interactions may help to raise user engagement and satisfaction. However, after analyzing user's feedback I found that users prefer this app rather than other competitors because of clear purpose and easy to operate.
Another challenge I faced for this particular project was that there were conflicting needs from the current users of the app and the new users which limited my opportunities. However, I attempted to sync all the needs to the new experience and make the product efficient for both users.
